Invitation to cover Agriculture Investment Symposium being organized by FAO in collaboration with ADB & IFC
Pakistan's agriculture sector has been facing several challenges in recent years, including low private investment, lack of access to modern technology and inputs, and limited access to markets. These challenges have contributed to a slowdown in the sector's growth. Therefore, FAO & Government of Pakistan in collaboration with IFC and ADB are organizing one-day Agriculture Investment Symposium aimed to support private investments in the agriculture sector, in line with government vision, SDGs, and Pakistan’s environment and climate change recovery strategy.
The specific objectives of the Symposium are to:
• Provide a platform to partners to present key information on investment opportunities, supporting Pakistan’s priorities and focusing on growth potential of the agriculture sector, including through digital technologies; and
• Facilitate matchmaking to mobilize private sector investment around key commodities.
This event brings together agriculture industry leaders, financial experts, and potential investors to discuss the latest trends and opportunities in the agriculture sector investment. The symposium will cover three topics, cluster based development; leveraging digitalization; adapting to climate change and will be followed by a booth fair and B2B meetings. We are expecting 250 to 300 stakeholders in this event from government, development agencies, private sector and progressive farmers.
The event will be held on February 28, 2023 (09:30 am to 4:00 pm) at Marriot Hotel, Islamabad.
Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister, Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiative will be the chief guest at the occasion.
You are requested to cover the event on behalf of your media organization. Concept note and program agenda is attached.
